COVINGTON - A 19-year-old former day care worker has been indicted on child molesting charges.

A Kenton County grand jury indicted Nicholas Morrison, of Independence, on one count of first-degree sodomy Thursday, according to Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders.

The alleged incident took place last summer at Katie's Learning Center on Taylor Mill Road in Independence where Morrison was a day care worker, according to an Independence police report. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services reported the incident to Independence police in October.

Morrison was arrested March 31. He was released the next day on $2,500 bail. If convicted Morrison could face 20 years to life in prison, Sanders said. Morrison admitted to performing an oral sex act on a 4-year-old boy, according to the report.

Morrison could not be reached for comment.

"The case involves multiple juvenile witnesses but only one victim," Sanders said. Morrison had worked at that day care center for about a year before the incident was reported.

"The Learning Center, upon discovering these allegations immediately removed the suspect from any contact with children and have been completely cooperative with police in assisting them in their investigation," Sanders said.

Authorities do not think there are more victims, but anyone with information is asked to call the Independence Police Department, he said.

Morrison will be arraigned June 15.

After the incident, Katie's Learning Center was sold and is now Cherokee Learning Center. The center is licensed to Miranda Urlage and is allowed to hold 100 children, infants through school age, according the Health and Family Services Cabinet.

New owner Jeff Neltner said he bought center in February.

"I've pretty much cleaned house," Neltner said. Neltner said he fired both the director and assistant director who were related to Morrison.
